Jeon Jong-seo’s Endless Controversies: Poor Acting, School Violence, Now Malicious Comments on Hyeri
Jeon Jong-seo has been a big star since her debut. She worked with big director Lee Chang-dong in in the movie “Burning” and even got to participate in 2018 Cannes International Film Festival, an admirable achievement for a rookie actress. However, as she was about to depart Korea, she covered her face and stared at the reporters at the airport. The reporters were shocked to see her face mixed with anger and irritation. This became a big scandal and the actress was heavily criticized. However, this turned out to be a misunderstanding. Jeon later revealed she debuted when her father was diagnosed with a rare disease. She had a poor attitude because she was worried about her father’s health.
It was not just her attitude and personality that emerged as a hot topic. There were recently a number of posts on social media and online communities raising suspicions that Jeon Jong-seo committed school violence. However, it disappeared instantly at the request of her agency, ANDMARQ.
The Song Ha-yoon bully incident broke out around the time Jeon Jong-seo was accused. Song Ha-yoon was accused of beating a junior male student for no reason for 90 minutes when she was a high school student. Song Ha-yoon completely denied the allegation, but the truth battle continues as further revelations continue. It was revealed that she was forced to transfer to a different school 2 times, which was equivalent to the eighth grade of punishment for school violence in Korea, and her image hit rock bottom.
With actress S (Song Ha-yoon) in the midst of this situation, a netizen dig into actress J (Jeon Jong-seo)’s past misdeeds, saying she bullied other students in high school.
“Victims consistently post their posts in agreement, and J’s company is erasing them at the speed of light,” she said. “It’s because they want to hide something because it’s true. Whenever I see J’s face, I get upset, so I take courage.” Jeon’s agency later denied the allegations and announced legal actions.
Later on, Jeon Jong-seo’s agency published an official statement about the situation, stating, “As soon as we became aware of the post in the community, we thoroughly checked the facts with the actress and those around her, and confirmed that the claims made in the post are completely false. We will take strong action against the dissemination of false information and plan to take necessary legal measures to protect the actress through our law firm.”
Prior to this school violence controversy, Jeon Jong-seo was also entangled in acting criticism as she appeared in her 1st TV drama – tvN’s “Wedding Impossible”. The actress, previously praised for her acting in the thriller genre, came under fire for her acting that is ill-fitted for rom-com. In particular, some people complained about her mumbling and unclear pronunciation during emotional scenes, saying, “I don’t know what you’re saying.”
Most recently, however, Jeon Jong-seo came under criticism again, as attention was paid to her Instagram account. In particular, Jeon Jong-seo only followed fellow actors and acquaintances, such as Han So-hee and Son Seok-gu, whom she was close with, but she caught the attention of netizens by following a private account, which has been continuously posting malicious comments about Hyeri.
In the end, Jeon Jong-seo’s agency claimed that they cannot verify the issue as this is a matter of the actress’ personal life. Meanwhile, Han So-hee’s side insisted that the account does not belong to Han So-hee, but netizens remain vigilant.
